How to Join Northern Colorado Back Country Horsemen by Mail

If you prefer to complete your membership application on paper and mail it in with a check, follow these simple steps. You will not be considered a member in good standing until all steps are completed, including signing the waiver.


Step 1: Download and Print the Membership Application

  1. Go to our website and locate the Membership Application Form.
  2. Click on the Download button (usually found near the form).
  3. Once the form opens, look for the Print icon (usually in the top-right corner).
  4. Click Print, and make sure your printer is turned on and has paper.


Step 2: Fill Out the Membership Application and Waiver

  • Carefully fill out all required information on the membership application form.
  • Read and complete the waiver form. This step is very important—your membership will not be valid without a signed waiver.


Step 3: Write a Check for Your Membership Fee

  1. Make the check payable to Northern Colorado Back Country Horsemen.
  2. Write the correct membership fee amount in the payment box. (Check our website or contact us if you're unsure of the amount.)
  3. On the memo line, write “NCBCH Membership.”


Step 4: Mail Your Completed Forms and Check

Gather the following:
✅ Completed Membership Form
✅ Signed Waiver Form
✅ Check for Membership Fee

Place all three items in an envelope and mail them to:

  • Once we receive and process your forms and payment, you will officially be a member in good standing.

HOW TO JOIN NORTHERN COLORADO BACK COUNTRY HORSEMEN Online

If you prefer to complete your membership application online follow these simple steps. You will not be considered a member in good standing until all steps are completed, including signing the waiver.


  • Download the Membership Form
  • Locate the "Download Membership Form" button or link and click on it.
  • Save the Form
  • Once the form appears in your browser or downloads, click the Download arrow (typically found in the upper-right corner).
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Locate the File on Your Desktop
  • Minimize all windows and find the saved form on your desktop.
  • Open the Form with Adobe Acrobat
  • Right-click the file.
  • Hover over the "Open With" option.
  • Select Adobe Acrobat from the list.
  • Fill in the Form
  • Use Adobe Acrobat to complete all necessary fields in the form.
  • Save the Filled Form
  • Once done, click the Save icon in the upper-right toolbar to save your changes.
  • Email the Completed Form
  • Open your email application or service.
  • Start a new email to nocobch@gmail.com
  • Attach the filled-in and saved form from your desktop.
  • Review your email and click Send.

To perpetuate the common-sense use and enjoyment of horses in America's backcountry and wilderness areas, focusing on Berthoud, Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Ault, Windsor, Boulder, and Estes Park.


To work to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.

To assist various government, state, and local agencies in the mai

To educate, encourage, and solicit active participation in the use of backcountry resources by stock users and the general public, in alignment with our heritage.


To foster and encourage the formation of new state organizations and the Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA).


To promote the humane treatment of livestock.

We offer our time, equipment, and expertise to government agencies and other volunteer groups in Northern Colorado for tasks such as:


  • Packing out trash and hauling in water to areas inaccessible to motorized vehicles.
  • Transporting supplies for other volunteer groups requesting our assistance.
  • Clearing, building, improving, and maintaining tr

We offer our time, equipment, and expertise to government agencies and other volunteer groups in Northern Colorado for tasks such as:


  • Packing out trash and hauling in water to areas inaccessible to motorized vehicles.
  • Transporting supplies for other volunteer groups requesting our assistance.
  • Clearing, building, improving, and maintaining trails, particularly in backcountry areas.
  • Assisting with the design and construction of trailheads and horse camping areas.


Each year, we are responsible for clearing two trails in the Comanche Peaks Wilderness: the Little Beaver Creek and Fish Creek Trails, both accessed from Jack's Gulch Campground off Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon.
