Welcome to Northern Colorado Back Country Horsemen

About Us

To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America's backcountry and wilderness areas.

To work to ensure that the public lands remain open to recreational stock use.

To assist the various government,  state and local agencies in their maintenance and management of said resources.

To educate, encourage  and solicit active participation in the use of the backcountry resource by stock users and the general public commensurate with our heritage.

To foster and encolurage the formation of new State organzations and BCHA

To promote the humane treatment of livestock.

We offer our time, equipment and expertise to Government agencies and other Volunteer groups for such tasks as:

Packing out trash, hauling in water to areas not accessible to motorized vehicles. Hauling in supplies for other volunteer groups who ask for our assistance.  Clearing, building, improving and maintaining trails, particularly in the back country. We assist in the building and design of trailheads and horse camping areas.

We are responsible for clearing two trails in the Comanche Peaks Wilderness each year Little Beaver Creek and Fish Creek Trails both accessed from Jack's Gulch Campground off Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon.
